How to Care for Your Leather Dog Collar: Tips for Long-Lasting Use
Share
A good leather dog collar gets softer and better-looking over time, but like all natural materials, it needs a little care. The leather in our collars is hand-painted with a unique splash design, and don’t worry—the paint won’t wear off! Since it’s absorbed into the leather, it stays put no matter how many adventures your pup goes on.
Here’s how to keep your collar looking great:
1. Wipe It Down Regularly
Dirt and oils build up over time, so just wipe the collar with a damp cloth every now and then. If it needs a deeper clean, use a mild leather cleaner or a bit of soapy water, but don’t soak it.
2. Keep It Moisturized
Leather can dry out, so rub in a little leather conditioner every few months to keep it soft. A tiny bit of coconut or mink oil works too—just don’t overdo it!
3. Water? No Problem, Just Let It Dry Naturally
If the collar gets wet, don’t panic—just let it air dry at room temperature. Never use a hairdryer or put it near a heater, as too much heat can make the leather stiff.
4. Store It Right
When not in use, hang it up or lay it flat so it keeps its shape. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight for too long, as it can fade the leather over time.
A Collar That Gets Better With Time
Our leather collars are made to age beautifully, and the splash design stays vibrant no matter what. Take care of it, and it’ll stay as stylish and comfortable as ever!
